Clients, business associates, friends and family members attended the October 1, 2010, 2nd Birthday Party and Open House conducted by Bookkeeper Girl, Inc. The celebration was to express thanks and appreciation to all of those who have been instrumental in assisting Kim and Scott Pollard, owners of the organization, in their last two years of growth and success. In that short period of time, the business has been so positive that it became necessary to expand to larger and more accommodating offices. Bookkeeper Girl, Inc. is now located in Suites 103 and 105 of the Texas Building on the Denton Square, the site of the October 1 Birthday Party and Open House. The new offices provide a much-needed conference room for consultation with present and prospective clients, along with an atmosphere of greater confidentiality and professionalism.

Bookkeeper Girl provides customized, specialized plans performed with a high degree of trust and integrity under the motto of the company, “Bookkeeping Made Simple”. The service provided is unique to each business or individual at an affordable, competitive monthly rate. Clients can rest assured their bills have been paid, and their bank and credit card reconciliations have been given personalized care by the competent, professional employees on the staff of Bookkeeper Girl. Payroll administration, profit and loss tracking, and free direct deposit for employees, are additional services offered to small businesses.

In addition to offices in Denton and Dallas, Kim Pollard, announced the opening of a third office, located at 200 Bailey Avenue, Fort Worth, in October, 2010. The company is also projecting the opening of a location in California by January, 2011. Opening her business to the public on October 1, 2008, Kim Pollard, President of Bookkeeper Girl, will celebrate her second year on Friday, October 1, 2010.

In that short period of two years, the growth and success of the business has been so positive that it became necessary to expand from their present offices on the second floor of the Texas building to larger and more accommodating offices on the first floor.

The new offices provide a much-needed conference room for consultation with present and prospective clients, along with an atmosphere of greater confidentiality. The offices are more employee friendly.

In addition to Kim and Scott Pollard, owners of the company, the Staff of Bookkeeper Girl, at present, includes two full-time account specialists and an Administrator. Kim has been recognized by the National Association of Professional Women as the Professional Woman of the Year in Bookkeeping for the year 2010, and was also awarded the first Green Grant by Intuit.

Bookkeeper Girl is now located in Suites 103 and 105 of the Texas Building.

Telephone Scam Attempt

August 1st, 2010

Bookkeeper Girl is taking this opportunity to alert all citizens that the office was the recipient of an attempted telephone scam. A recording called and said that our credit card from a certain bank was revoked and if the company wanted to reinstate this card, they should press “1”. If you pressed “1” on the telephone, they then asked for your credit card number.

Bookkeeper Girl does not have a credit card with the bank that was mentioned in the scam, so the company did not stand the chance of being victimized. Our Administrator called the bank who then told her this is a scam that is being conducted using the name of several different banks and that we should alert everyone we know, especially the elderly, to not be taken in by this scare tactic. If you were to give your credit card number, then they would ask for your security pin number from the back of the card which then enables them to use your credit card as if it were their own.

The bank personnel advised that NO ONE should give ANY information over the phone about their credit card number. If a person should receive a telephone call asking for their credit card number and/or information, they should immediately contact their respective bank to report this.

Bookkeeper Girl is urging everyone who reads this blog to pass along this information to alert as many people as they can to be aware of this scam. It is our understanding that a couple of elderly people have already been victimized by thousands of dollars through this credit card telephone scam.

BOOKKEEPERGIRL SPONSORS DOCUMENTARIES

The Bookkeeper Girl, Inc., was proud to be one of the advertising sponsors in the program guide for the five-day series of documentaries entitled the ” Thin Line Film Fest”. This international documentary film festival, held in two theatres in Denton from February 17 through 21, 2010, was one-of-a-kind in the state of Texas, but reaches film makers from 50 local, regional, national and international zones including New Zealand, Costa Rica, Nepal, Ireland, Germany, and France.

The film fest is a juried selection of art or a collection of artifacts from around the world. Attendees witnessed real stories of real people from real places around the globe and around the corner. One of the short films entitled, CRAZY DIAMOND, featured a Denton resident who does not let his severe disability caused by cerebral palsy stop him from experiencing every challenge and living a full life.

This festival also included highly anticipated premieres and the most popular documentaries from 2009. Thin Line opened with the Texas Premiers of GASLAND, one of the hottest documentaries in the country. GASLAND is a film about the effects of natural gas drilling and was shown in Denton just two weeks after its World Premiere at the Sundance Film Festival. Other titles included six documentaries off the 2009 Oscar shortlist, as well as multiple World, US, and Southwest Premieres.

Bookkeeper Girl Special Contributor Colette Yetka

November 2nd, 2009

Administrative assistant Yetka is familiar face across Dentonblog_collette

If you live or work in Denton, it’s a good bet that you’ve seen the smiling face of Colette Yetka on more than one occasion.

It might be at a ribbon cutting for the Chamber of Commerce, where she serves as an ambassador, is a Leadership Denton Alumni and is a Denton Star for the Convention and Visitor’s Bureau. It might be at St. Mark Catholic Church, where she serves as a eucharistic minister and a lector, or serving on the board of directors of Interfaith Ministries. It might be at the Denton Kiwanis Club, where she recently served as president, or at the Denton Benefit League, where she is an active member. It might be ballroom dancing. Or it might be taking her grandchildren on an outing.

“I especially enjoy spending time with my grandchildren,” Ashley, 13, Brooke, 11, and Logan, 3,” said the mother of two.

In addition to her grandchildren, she is extremely proud mother of her daughter, Cindy, who is a veterinarian and lives in Copper Canyon, and her son, Chad, who is president of American Home Builders& Mortgage Corp. in Denver.

Sometimes, Colette can even be found in her Denton home, where she enjoys gardening. For someone with so many activities, you’d think Colette is retired – far from it.

Colette is the administrative assistant for Bookkeeper Girl, where she has worked since the business formed on Oct. 1, 2008. “I enjoy the work,” said Colette, whose duties include networking, advertising, marketing and just about everything but bookkeeping.

She also enjoys the flexibility, allowing her to enjoy her other passions.
Obviously a real people person, Colette said her job involves dealing with the public quite a bit, and that’s a real perk. “I enjoy all the personnel I come in contact with,” she said.

A Year of Personal and Professional Growth

It is hard for me to believe it has already been a year for Bookkeeper Girl, Inc.! This month we enjoyed a wonderful anniversary celebration with our clients and business acquaintances.

As I reflect on the past year, I look back and smile at not only the growth the business has experienced, but the growth I have experienced as well. As a new small business owner, I have learned so much about life itself through daily operations, through wearing many different hats, and how structure adds a calm to your life.

Having a year under my belt, I have a peace within me that I did not have a year ago. Although I continue to work hard, I have learned that sleep does matter and good planning allows time for sleep!

Personally, I have learned more about sharing with others. When I first launched the company last year, I was more like a toddler who had not learned to share her favorite toy! Now, enjoying coffee conversations with my husband and actually listening to his thoughts, rather than the reversed roles, have actually become a favorite past time of mine. I have learned to not fret so much over the small stuff- which I might add is easier said than done for me!

Although we are a young company, we have reaped the benefits of hard work and integrity this year. I remember the excitement I felt as we brought on a few new clients each month, which now has turned into adding new clients each week.

The power of togetherness means so much more to me than it did a year ago. Our company has been blessed with incredible business relationships that I feel confident will be life-long.

Teamwork has certainly been learned by all of us. Building a team and utilizing their talents was something that was taught to me from my very first client, Chuck Smith, located in Dallas. It is ironic that the wisdom he has shared with me over the years, I am now sharing and implementing into my own company. I have witnessed firsthand at how teaching what you know is a true blessing to everyone.
